2 week checkup...5/23/13

I went for my two week checkup yesterday. I also made Daniel a foot doctor appointment because he has really flat feet and has been complaining alot lately about his knees killing him. So, we had his appointment first in Springfield, then had my appointment in Bolivar that afternoon. The doctor told Daniel he needed to stretch his calves to help his feet & also ordered him some new inserts that are made from molds of his feet. Hopefully this helps his feet and knees. We will see!
After his appointent, we went to Bolivar for mine. These two week appointments get pretty repetitive, but I love to hear his heartbeat! She comes in and checks my blood pressure, weight, and then checks babies heartbeat. Usually she puts it on my stomach and you can instantly hear him. This time, she put it on my stomach and NOTHING. I instantly freaked out, tears swelling up in my eyes and looking at Daniel, then she moved the monitor a little bit lower and there was his precious heartbeat. I have never been so worried. Usually we hear it instantly, so I was not ready to not hear it! Scared me to death! After that, she always measures my stomach. She said I was measuring right at 32 weeks, which made me feel good, too. Everyone always tells me I look too small...blah blah blah. So tired of hearing that I am too small (hormones, maybe?!) But, when I hear things like that I start worrying that there isn't enough room for baby, etc. It's nice to hear that he is measuring right along!

I also have been dying to ask her if I can paint the baby's dresser. I wanted to make sure Daniel was there so he could hear her answer in person. So, I asked, & she said it was fine. Daniel was not impressed (as the doctor could see by his facial expression), but dresser painting HERE I COME!

She said at the next appointment we will schedule the rest of my appointments and I will start getting checked at my weekly appointments starting at 35 weeks! How did this pregnancy fly by so fast?! We are in the home stretch!

Weight: 134 (gained 20 pounds exactly)
Heartbeat: 145

Baby is the size of… 4 navel oranges (weight)
Maternity clothes? Love my maternity pants and I can still wear some normal shirts…they just keep getting smaller!

Stretch marks? Nope J
Sleep: Sleep is getting more uncomfortable…I find myself getting up pretty early because I’m just tired of rolling around in bed.
Best moment this week: School is out! I was so excited for school to be out and not have to go in every day, but I will really miss my co workers and the kiddos at school next year.

Miss Anything? Hot tub…I did go and clean it this week and put my legs in and sat on the side. J It was better than nothing!
Movement: Baby is always moving! I can tell he is getting bigger because the kicks are starting to be more painful. I finally started to feel hiccups this week.
Food cravings:  Sonic finally brought back their Chocolate Cream Pie Shakes!!! These were my favorite before they got rid of them about 3 years ago! Of course, they bring them back when I’m pregnant! Yum-O!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Gender:  Boy!
Labor Signs: No...but I think I might have had some Braxton Hicks this week.

Symptoms:  I still have back pain, but I am noticing more cellulite here recently. Ugh! I can’t wait to get rid of it once this baby gets here. Not good! And, I can't cross my legs anymore.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely out.

Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy…although Daniel would disagree. He swears I get more hormonal everyday…
Looking forward to: Getting lots of projects done now that school is out. I am working on painting a dresser, getting décor on the walls and making a changing pad cover!

Sleep: Sleep has been alright. Baby seems to like to curl up into a ball and it’s hard for me to get comfortable.
Best moment this week: Baby G’s daddy is a model! My cousin is an awesome photographer & was doing a shoot for Cabelas. He asked Daniel if he wanted to come model  the camo and Daniel really wanted to try and get the hunting gear at cost (unfortunatly for him, that didnt happen)…little did he know his face was going to be on a display at the Cabela’s store! I was so excited when they sent us the picture of the display. And, Daniel’s head has never been bigger. ;)

Baby Shower at Work

Last Thursday my wonderful friends at Henry Elementary threw me a baby shower! What sweet and kind friends they are! It was so much fun to get to sit around and talk with them about their baby experiences. :) First, we had to play a game of matching celebrities with their baby names...needless to say, the names were crazy & the game was hard! Then, everyone got a card that they got to write wishes on for Baby Gurley. It was so sweet to sit at home and read what they wrote. It was also so much fun to open all the cute little baby gifts! My co-workers were so sweet and gave us lots of great things to use for baby. I have the best co-workers and I will miss seeing them everyday a TON next year. But, hopefully Baby G and I can visit often! :)

The sweet ladies who threw me the shower, Emily & Amber.
The yummy cake that the principal had made for the shower. It was delicious!

29 Weeks

Baby Gurley got to visit Aunt Halie at prom this week! She looks so grown up!

How far along? 29 weeks
Baby is the size of… Butternut Squash
Maternity clothes? Every day. Wish it would get warm so I could wear dresses!

Stretch marks? Not yet…but my stomach has seemed more itchy lately…might not be a good sign!
Sleep: Thank goodness for my body pillow. I would not be able to sleep without that thing.
Best moment this week: I had a doctor’s appointment on Monday and Daniel went with me. They called me back and I always have to get on the scale first thing. I had weighed myself a couple days before and was in the 134 range…but, when I stepped on the scale at the doctor it was moving from 160 to 170. My heart instantly sank into my chest & I had NO IDEA how I had gained so much weight in just a short amount of time. I looked straight at the nurse and told her that the scale was wrong & she just had a straight face. I started looking around (because I was freaking out) and then I noticed my husband trying to hold his monstrous laugh in! Daniel had been stepping on the scale, too, making it go up! I smacked him & of course we made a huge scene because we were laughing so hard. The nurse even got a great laugh out of it! It was NOT funny then to me, but we have laughed about it for several days now!
J
Miss Anything? Being able to reach my toes to put shoes on!
Movement: Baby G is moving a ton! Now, my whole stomach moves instead of just a side. That means he is getting bigger!
Food cravings:  None really this week. J
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, thank goodness no sickness this week!
Gender:  Boy!
Labor Signs: No

Symptoms:  Back pain…usually doesn’t kick in until I get home from work. But, I don’t move much once I’m home!
Belly Button in or out? Definitely out.

Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: a friend at school is throwing me a shower on Thursday! So excited for my first shower! And, what a sweet friend she is for throwing me a shower!

28 Weeks

How far along? 28 weeks  (Notice I am wearing long sleeves and a scarf in MAY! too cold!)
Baby is the size of… Chinese Cabbage….whatever that is!
Maternity clothes? Yes! I am going to buy more soon. My t-shirts don’t even fit anymore! Daniel actually informed me one day that my belly was hanging out of my t-shirt at home! I told him I did know that, but didn't care! I have since been wearing his t-shirts as not to offend him! HA!

Stretch marks? Not yet…still using my belly cream all the time.
Sleep: Sleep is ok. I toss and turn all night and have to get up to pee about 5 times. Poor Daniel!
Best moment this week: Getting the 3D ultrasound and seeing our baby move around and open his eyes and stick out his tongue. I loved being able to see him for so long. Now, I am really anxious to meet him in person!

Miss Anything? Being able to lay on my stomach and have my back rubbed!
Movement: He moves all the time. Usually during the day I’m at work, moving a ton and don’t notice him that much, but when I get home he makes his presence known.
Food cravings:  I have been wanting Taco Bell a lot lately. Probably because I can’t eat it anymore b/c of the AWFUL heartburn it gives me. L
Anything making you queasy or sick: I did wake up in the middle of the night this week and throw up. Not sure why but I woke up feeling instantly queasy. Daniel was really worried for a while. I just told him this must be the all the joys of the 3rd trimester I keep hearing about!
Gender:  Boy! Having so much fun with nursery and boy clothes!
Labor Signs: No

Symptoms:  3rd trimester is definitely here. I have cried a few times b/c of the awful back pain I’ve had. Also, took a walk the other day and my feet and hands were swollen when I got home.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely out.

Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! So excited for school to be over! Im ready to rest!
Looking forward to: a few restful weekends before summer events start picking up. My calendar keeps getting more full!

3D Ultrasound

I had been debating whether or not I wanted to get a 3D ultrasound for awhile. Most places that I checked were quite expensive...upwards of 200 dollars! To me, I just could not jusify spending that on 10 pictures, when I would actually get to meet him in 10 weeks! And, Im a pretty frugal person & would rather spend that money on things for the baby room instead. I had decided that we probaby were not going to get one. But, I got on Facebook & a friend had told me about the hospital in El Dorado Springs that only charged 75 dollars. I talked with Daniel and we decided that we were going to do it! I made an appointment for a Friday afternoon and off we went.

The hospital was about 30 minutes away from our house, and I was really excited to see our baby. He had been moving a ton lately and I could feel he had gotten alot bigger, so I couldn't wait to see him! Daniel just wanted her to double check that he was still a boy! :) We got there and didn't have to wait at all to go in. I thought it was amazing how the tech could tell where things were right away & quickly showed him to us. It is so amazing how the pictures change from 2D to 3D and become so clear!

She quickly told us that he was really low and snuggled close to me, which would make it hard to get a good face shot. His umbilical cord was close to his head, too so that made it hard to see his face in most pictures. I was alright with not getting a great face shot, I was just amazed that we could see his fingers, toes, mouth, lips, eyes, etc so clear! Getting the 3D made me feel better! I hadnt seen baby in about 8 weeks, so I was glad to see how big he was and see all his little body parts! To me, the ultrasound was definitly worth it for 75 dollars! We have decided that Baby G has Daniel's lips and my nose....now just about 10 more weeks until we can see for sure!!! Here are just some of the pictures of our sweet little boy:

Face shot

Little foot with his face in the background

Baby has hair already

Resting his head on his arm. Didn't want to move from this position

Eyes open

See my toes!
