Merry Christmas...we're pregnant!

I was so ready for Christmas break from school. I had pretty 'normal' morning sickness. I usually threw up first thing in the morning, then I was ok for the rest of the day. It was hard keeping it from everyone. My cousins, Matt & Jackie, flat out asked me several times if I was pregnant because I was sick. Matt asked once, "Are you usually just sick in the mornings?' It was so hard to lie to them, but I really wanted it to be a fun suprise when we told everyone! The day I went to our first appointment my cousin, Emily, texted me and said she had a dream we were pregnant. Again, so hard to lie...but I didn't want to tell her over the phone! I could hardly keep it in any longer.
Our plan was to wrap up the ultrasounds and onesies and give them to our family as gifts, and Daniel was supposed to record everything so I could make a video. Our plan worked pretty great. We got everyone's reactions on camera and I made a fun little video to announce to the Facebook world. I'm so glad we will always have this video to share with baby G.

Here it is...

For our family that lives out of town, we sent them a pregnancy announcement via Christmas Card. This is my last skinny picture for awhile!

1st Appointment

Now that I knew I was pregnant, I called my OBGYN in Springfield to make an appointment. This is my first year teaching and I switched to school insurance. When I made the appointment they took my new insurance and called a few days later saying they did not take the new insurance. So, I was now on the hunt for a new doctor, but I hated to leave my old one because she was so great.
My old doctor recommended a lady in Bolivar. I totally trusted her judgement, so I called and made an appointment. My first appointment was December 18, 2012. We walked in and instantly I loved the nurse practitioner. She was so patient and when I begged to get an ultrasound before Christmas, she let me have one! She said, "There is no way you can tell everyone at Christmas without pictures!"
I had to give 6 viles of blood, which I did awesome at. Glad I've always given blood...makes it easy now! My initial weight was 114. They said I was 'very underweight'.  I thought that was rude...I mean, I can't gain weight if I wanted too! Guess that's about to change.
They then let us do the ultrasound. It was amazing. I could not believe that our tiny little baby was moving all around! I can't believe I couldn't feel the all the moving baby G was doing. We were both speechless. It was just amazing. After she was done with the ultrasound I told Dan I was glad it wasn't twins! He looked shocked and said he didn't even think of that! He was glad I didn't mention it before or he would have been really nervous for the ultrasound. Ha! Here is our sweet baby at 10 weeks.

Weight: 114

Heartbeat: 174

Due date: July 18, 2013

We're Pregnant! (Telling Daniel)

Around September, we decided it was about time for a baby. We had been married almost 3 1/2 years and I was getting baby fever! I had stopped all birth control a few months before, and we were anxious to just see what happened!
We didn't have to wait very long...Daniel loves to throw out a good, corny joke about that, but I will leave that off here! On October 9th I took about 6 pregnancy tests and couldn't believe what I saw. Daniel had been feeding out calves and was leaving the house around 7 each morning to feed. I  took the tests after he left because I really did not believe that the first 4 were right. All day at work I had to think of a way to tell Daniel. Mostly, I wondered what his reaction would be.
I kept all the tests in a ziplock bag that day. When Daniel got home I told him I was not feeling well and that I thought I had a temperature. He was sitting in the recliner, watching tv, and I told him I could not read the thermometer (which was really the pregnancy test). He rolled his eyes and grabbed it out of my hands! His eyes got really big, and he had a sweet little smile. He didn't say much but gave me a huge hug. About 10 seconds later, still holding the test, he says "Sick...you pee'd on this!" Ha! Of course the germaphobe in him would instantly think of that!
It was a pretty great day...and we decided not to tell our family until Christmas when I would be around 12 weeks. Let the fun, and sickness begin!

Purpose

First off, thanks for visiting my blog! I have been wanting to start one for awhile now.  This blog was created for our sweet baby. The blog will be printed into a book when baby gets here so we can always remember what 'G's' pregnancy was like. I am going to call the baby G until we know what 'G' is.

Really, this is a selfish blog. I am doing it only for baby. But, I plan to share lots of stories and pictures as we fly through this journey.
